Whether it's Y2K, SHTF, Mad Max at the Thunderdome, or you are just a good Boy Scout........
What extra food do you keep in your pantry?
In this economy, many people can not order a 1yr supply
of survival food for their family......they simply can't afford it.
There are a zillion prepper sites and youTube videos on how to
store your own.....and what you should have.
Many shortcuts and DIY ways to save $$$.....but there are still people that can't even afford mylar bags and food grade buckets.
So what does the common person without the funds do...STARVE?
Not talking 'French Cuisine" in Manhattan.....or Ruth' Chris steakhouse..... but Kroger, Wal-Mart, Publix.....etc.
There are many things that you can simply pick up an extra
can or two of on your average daily trip to the store that will not
break your wallet and will have a long shelf life....already canned or packaged.
It may not be you favorite comfort food, but you will be able to
survive on it. It even may be something you have never eaten before.
{there are certain vitamin and nutrient requirements that have to be met for healthy sustainability....this is not to address that}
This is about foods available where you already shop, have a long term shelf life, don't cost much, and can be a determining factor whether or not you survive a short term emergency situation.
Some that I know last much longer than the use by date,
from personal testing since the 1990's, and still remain to taste just about the same as the day they were packaged.
