The little .22lr as a lethal round has been debated more than any round/caliber.
Especially in the last 10 years, with all the forum gurus and the influx of new shooters, whether caused by political changes or survivalists/preppers, the .22lr has taken more heat than ever. Understanding that everyone has an opinion, now that carry permits and gun sales are at an all time high, there are more experts than ever, albeit for the most part.....self-proclaimed experts. These new gurus waste no time telling others which gun is BEST....along with which caliber is a must. Some have science behind their speeches, some have hands-on experience of 3-5 years, and many simply regurgitate what they read on the internet.[side note: same goes for reloading info] Although I truly believe it is possible for the right person to be well-skilled in a short time, it is mostly highly unlikely.
Today, with photoshop, pictures can not only be altered, but entirely created. On the internet, you can't even tell if someone tells the truth, pictures or not. The worst part overall is the ones who don't speak truths make it near impossible for those that do to gain any trust. Example.....someone says they are a great shot. Immediately 10 others post how they shoot better, and someone says.....pics, or it didn't happen. Pow, up come pics of the targets. One reason this isn't even believable, some have been caught posting pics of other peoples targets that they copied and pasted....
REGURGITATED !!! UNTRUTH !!! Yet so much of it all is treated as gospel. Back to the little .22, even .22short....
I have looked and looked and can not find......an article in Popular Science or Popular Mechanics or Boys Life or some similar monthly magazine, maybe around the 70's or 80's or the late 60's that was titled 'From Mice To Moose" and don't remember the author. If anyone knows.....PLEASE tell me where I can find it. This was an article on the use of the .22lr cartridge shooting everything 'From Mice To Moose' and is the best I have read on the .22lr even to this date.
Anyway, here is a somewhat scientific approach to the .22lr's lethality that can be easily understood, even if you don't understand ballistics, and I also think these two that made the video are honest. I have seen many of their videos and they seem sincere trustworthy.
